As the Town of Apex continues to grow, Mayor Gilbert has reiterated that maintaining its tight-knit community remains a top priority. With a plethora of new developments on the horizon, including the highly anticipated Pleasant Park, the town is poised to become an even more desirable place to live.

Scheduled to open in late summer 2023, Pleasant Park is part of the 2017 parks bond that allocated $48 million for park and recreation amenities. The 92-acre park is currently under construction off Old US-1 and Pleasant Plains Rd, and when finished, it will boast a wide range of amenities including pickleball courts, a playground, tennis courts, picnic shelters, and a cross-country course.

One of the most exciting features of Pleasant Park is its inclusive play area, Enchanted Forest. Inspired by fairy tales and fables, this 1.5-acre section will be home to seven play villages with fantastical names like Kingdom in the Clouds and Gnome's Hollow. The area will also feature a water play section called SPLASHLANTIS, which is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages.

But Pleasant Park isn't just about fun and games – it's also designed to bring people together through sports and recreation. The park will feature six multipurpose fields and four baseball/softball fields, as well as batting cages, concession stands, bathrooms, and meeting offices. This means that the Town of Apex will be able to expand its youth and adult athletic programs, which are currently filled to capacity with waitlists.

According to Alan Buck, Chair of the Apex Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Advisory Commission, Pleasant Park is going to be the 'jewel of Wake County.' With its custom-made play structure, inclusive play villages, and ample space for sports and recreation, this park is truly a game-changer for the community.
